Rhode Island Primary Results

Based upon the analysis of the vote, Edison projects Joe Biden will win the Rhode Island Democratic primary.

Rhode Island expanded its absentee voting program in the 2020 primary in light of the coronavirus pandemic. Voters needed to request an absentee ballot application or vote in-person at the limited polling places available on June 2. Poll times varied by polling place. There are 26 delegates available for Democrats and 19 for Republicans.

State significance

Rhode Island encouraged all its voters to cast absentee ballots in the election, though the state already had high engagement with absentee voting in previous years. Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders won the state’s Democratic primary in 2016, with 55% of the vote.
