Ted Cruz Reveals He's a Thin Crust Pizza-Loving Candidate
The GOP candidate takes his family to California Pizza Kitchen on Fridays.
— -- Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz spoke to the hearts of the New Yorkers he is trying to win over before Tuesday’s primary by revealing he’s a thin-crust pizza candidate.
The Texas senator described himself as a “thin crust guy” while answering a Harlem voter’s question during a Times Square town hall on “Good Morning America.”

In answering whether he preferred New York style thin-crust pizza or Chicago style deep-dish pizza, Cruz also set himself apart from his fellow Republican candidates Donald Trump and Ohio Gov. John Kasich.
“I will note in the critical pizza primary I am the only one of the Republican candidates who doesn’t eat pizza with a fork and a knife,” Cruz said. “There’s only one way to eat it and that is in your hands.”
Kasich ignited ridicule, and a flood of media coverage, when he used a fork to eat a slice of pizza while campaigning in New York City last month.
When asked about the pizza moment afterwards on "GMA," Kasich claimed "the pizza came scalding hot," prompting his use of "a little fork."
Though Cruz likes New York’s pizza, he revealed he orders it from a location with a West Coast bent.
“On Friday nights we take the girls out to California Pizza Kitchen and do a family night,” Cruz said of his wife, Heidi Cruz, and their two young daughters.
