‘This Week’ Ranks as the No. 1 Public Affairs Program in Adults 25-54

— -- ABC News’ “This Week with George Stephanopoulos” stood as Sunday’s No. 1 public affairs program in Adults 25-54 (887,000) on July 17, 2016, based on Live +Same Day Data from Nielsen Media Research. “This Week” beat NBC’s “Meet the Press-MTP” (764,000) by 123,000 and CBS’ “Face the Nation” (861,000) by 26,000.

“This Week” posted increases from the previous week (2.930 million and 882,000, respectively, on 7/10/16) in Total Viewers (+4%) and Adults 25-54 (+1%).

For the 2nd straight week, “This Week” improved on the same Sunday last year (2.899 million and 879,000, respectively, on 7/19/15) in both Total Viewers (+5%) and Adults 25-54 (+1%).

Season to date, “This Week” leads CBS’ “Face the Nation” by 21,000 Adults 25-54 (936,000 vs. 915,000), beating the CBS program for the first time in the news demo at this point of the season 7 years – since the 2008-09 season.

“This Week” is improving in both Total Viewers (+15% - 3.237 million vs. 2.819 million) and Adults 25-54 (+7% - 936,000 vs. 873,000) versus its year-ago season averages. In fact, “This Week” is drawing its largest overall audience in 17 years and posting its strongest news demo performance in 7 years – since the 1998-99 and 2008-09 seasons, respectively.

NOTE: “Meet the Press” was retitled to “Meet the Press-MTP” and the telecast is excluded from the season averages.
