‘This Week’ Ranks No. 1 in Both Total Viewers and Adults 25-54 on Sunday, July 31

— -- ABC News’ “This Week with George Stephanopoulos” ranked as the No. 1 public affairs program on Sunday in both Total Viewers (3.571 million) and Adults 25-54 (1.037 million) on July 31, 2016, based on Live + Same Day Data from Nielsen Media Research.

“This Week” outdelivered CBS’ “Face the Nation” (3.510 million and 935,000, respectively) by its 2nd-largest overall viewer lead of the season (+61,000) and beat the CBS program for the 6th consecutive week in the key adult news demo (+102,000).

“This Week” scored double-digit increases from the previous week (3.044 million and 855,000, respectively, for 7/24/16) in both Total Viewers (+17%) and Adults 25-54 (+21%), drawing its largest overall audience in 4 months and strongest news demo performance in 5 months – since 3/20/16 and 2/21/16, respectively.

“This Week” also surged by double digits on the year-ago Sunday (2.753 million and 848,000, respectively, on 8/2/16) in Total Viewers (+30%) and Adults 25-54 (+22%).

Season to date, “This Week” leads CBS’ “Face the Nation” by 26,000 Adults 25-54 (937,000 vs. 911,000), beating the CBS program by its largest news demo margin in 7 years – since the 2008-09 season.

“This Week” is improving in both Total Viewers (+15% - 3.242 million vs. 2.814 million) and Adults 25-54 (+7% - 937,000 vs. 873,000) versus its year-ago season averages. In fact, “This Week” is drawing its largest overall audience in 17 years and posting its strongest news demo performance in 7 years – since the 1998-99 and 2008-09 seasons, respectively.

NOTE: Due to the Women’s British Open, “Meet the Press” was rescheduled and retitled to “Meet the Press-MTP” and the telecast is excluded from the season averages.
