BYU close to agreement with Kalani Sitake to become next head coach

— -- Oregon State defensive coordinator Kalani Sitake is close to a deal to become BYU's next head coach, a source confirmed to ESPN's Joe Schad.

Sitake, 40, played four years at BYU as a fullback and graduated in 2000. He spent the past year as Oregon State's defensive coordinator after serving as an assistant at Utah from 2005 to 2014.

Oregon State struggled defensively this season under Sitake, ranking 116th out of 128 FBS teams in total defense.

If the deal is completed, Sitake would replace Bronco Mendenhall, who was hired earlier this month by Virginia after spending the past 11 years at BYU.
