— -- The Kansas City Chiefs and defensive back Ron Parker have agreed to a 5-year, $30 million deal, a source told ESPN's Adam Teicher.

The versatility of Parker, 27, was very helpful to the Chiefs last season.

He started four games at cornerback, filling in for injured regulars. He also started 11 at strong safety in place of Eric Berry, who first had a high-ankle sprain and was later diagnosed with lymphoma.

Parker struggled at times but was perhaps the Chiefs' Most Valuable Player in a midseason win over the Bills in Buffalo. Parker, playing cornerback, broke up three passes in the end zone on a late Buffalo drive to help the Chiefs preserve a 17-13 lead.
