Chris Culliver suspended one game for personal conduct policy violation

— -- ASHBURN, Va. -- Washington Redskins cornerback Chris Culliver was suspended for one game for a violation of the NFL's personal conduct policy. He'll miss Sunday's game against the St. Louis Rams.

Culliver pleaded guilty in June to misdemeanors for a hit-and-run as well as possession of brass knuckles. Both stemmed from the same incident in Santa Clara, California in March 2014. Culliver hit a bicyclist and drove away and later threatened someone with brass knuckles.

Culliver received a sentence of 40 hours of community service as well as informal court probation -- no probation officer is assigned to him. But if he commits another crime during this period, the sentence could be revoked, leading to either jail time or formal probation.

The Redskins signed Culliver to a four-year deal worth potentially $32 million this past offseason.

The suspension leaves the 0-1 Redskins further depleted. They'll also be without receiver DeSean Jackson for three to four weeks with a left hamstring injury and lost safety Duke Ihenacho for an extended time with a fractured and dislocated left wrist.

The Redskins will get back corner Bashaud Breeland, who was suspended for the first game for a violation of the league's substance abuse policy.
