Dak Prescott breaks Tom Brady's record for passes without pick to start career

— -- GREEN BAY, Wis. -- In his sixth career game, Dallas Cowboys?rookie quarterback Dak Prescott has supplanted Tom Brady in one area of the NFL record book.

With eight pass attempts to open Sunday's game against the Green Bay Packers, Prescott set the record for passes without an interception to open a career, at 163. Brady, the? New England Patriots' quarterback, opened his career with 162 passes without an interception, spanning the 2000 and 2001 seasons.

Prescott extended his record to 176 passes without a pick, but he threw his first interception in the third quarter on a third-down attempt to tight end Jason Witten. Prescott's 177th career attempt was picked off by Green Bay's Morgan Burnett.?

Earlier in the game, Prescott eclipsed Brady's record on the Cowboys' third series on a 15-yard completion to receiver? Terrance Williams with 2:45 to play in the first quarter.

Prescott nearly had his first attempt intercepted, but the play was negated by an offside penalty on the Packers. He completed his first four passes on the Cowboys' opening drive, capping it with a 1-yard touchdown throw to Cole Beasley. It was Prescott's fifth touchdown pass of the season and the second to Beasley.

Prescott did turn the ball over shortly after breaking the record when he fumbled while getting pressured by Green Bay defensive end Julius Peppers.

In last week's game against the Cincinnati Bengals, Prescott set the record for pass attempts without an interception by a rookie quarterback.
