— -- DETROIT -- Cleveland Indians starter Carlos Carrasco left Sunday's 6-3 victory over the Detroit Tigers in the third inning because of a hamstring injury to his left leg.

Manager Terry Francona said after the game that Carrasco was returning to Cleveland for an MRI and will be put on the disabled list.

The right-hander ran to first base to try to beat Andrew Romine on a ground ball. He had to turn to catch first baseman  Carlos Santana's throw, and he hit the bag at an awkward angle.

Carrasco recorded the out but crumpled to the ground. After several minutes of treatment, he was helped off the field. He was able to put only minimal weight on his leg.

Right-hander  Trevor Bauer replaced Carrasco with two out in the third in a scoreless game.
