— -- Texas A&M junior linebacker Josh Walker has been suspended indefinitely following his arrest Friday in a domestic incident.

Walker was arrested and charged with assault with bodily injury to a family member and interfering with an emergency request for assistance, according to the Brazos County Sheriff's Office.?Bond was not immediately set.

Walker pushed his girlfriend into a child's rocking chair, Cpl. Matthew Alaniz of the College Station Police Department told the Houston Chronicle.

"She fell on the rocking chair, causing some bruising and a pretty good knot on her hip," Alaniz told the newspaper.

Alaniz said Walker stopped the girlfriend from using her phone to call 911. He then gave her his phone, but grabbed and put it in his pocket, according to the officer. Walker failed to hang up the call, Alaniz said, and the 911 dispatcher "could hear them arguing."

A child was in the apartment but was not involved in the incident, according to police. Walker cooperated with officers when they arrived, Alaniz told the Chronicle.

Texas A&M said, based on athletic department policy, that Walker had been suspended immediately and indefinitely.

Walker has started five games in his two seasons with the Aggies, but his role had decreased gradually over the past year and he wasn't expected to play much in 2016. He posted a season-high five tackles in the 2015 opener against Arizona State.
