Kansas is set to hire Buffalo's Lance Leipold as football coach, sources confirmed to ESPN.

Leipold will replace Les Miles, who was fired in March following accusations of inappropriate behavior toward female students during his head-coaching tenure at LSU.

The 56-year-old Leipold was informing the Bulls players of his decision to join the Jayhawks on Friday morning, a source told ESPN's Adam Rittenberg.

Leipold was 37-33 in six seasons as Buffalo coach, leading the Bulls to the MAC title game in 2018 and 2020 and recording bowl wins each of the past two seasons.

Army coach Jeff Monken was also considered a finalist for the job, according to Rittenberg.

Sports Illustrated first reported Leipold's expected hiring.
