— -- Daniel Cormier has withdrawn from his UFC 206 light heavyweight title bout against Anthony Johnson because of an injury, according to a report Friday by MMA Fighting.

Johnson took to Twitter on Friday afternoon, saying he hopes Cormier has a "full recovery."

Cormier responded to Johnson with a tweet of his own.

Cormier and Johnson fought for the vacant 205-pound championship at UFC 187 in May 2015. Johnson originally was supposed to challenge longtime champion Jon "Bones" Jones on that card, but Jones was pulled and stripped of the title in April after he was arrested on a hit-and-run charge.

Cormier (18-1) replaced Jones on the card and submitted Johnson via rear-naked choke in the third round.

Johnson (22-5) is 3-0 since the loss to Cormier. He has recorded three consecutive knockouts, including first-round finishes over Ryan Bader and Glover Teixeira.
