Source: Saints part ways with running back C.J. Spiller

— -- The New Orleans Saints have cut running back C.J. Spiller, a source told ESPN's Field Yates.

Spiller, 29, was listed as inactive for the team's Week 1 home loss to the Oakland Raiders.

He joined the Saints prior to last season, but missed three games due to injury and had better numbers in the receiving game than rushing. He ran for a total of 112 yards and no touchdowns last year, but had 239 yards receiving and two scores.
