— -- Mark Richt will be Miami's next head coach, sources confirmed to ESPN.com's Brett McMurphy and Mark Schlabach.

News of the hiring was earlier reported by CanesInSight.com.

Georgia announced Sunday that Richt would not return as its football coach. Richt, who coached for 15 years, will lead the Bulldogs in their bowl game following a 9-3 finish to the regular season.

Richt, a Miami alum, averaged nearly 10 wins a season during his tenure at Georgia.

The Hurricanes fired Al Golden in late October after more than four seasons with the Hurricanes.
