Tiger Woods to stick with planned schedule for 2015 despite struggles

— -- GAINESVILLE, Va. -- Despite a season that hasn't yielded typical results, Tiger Woods insisted Tuesday that he'll be sticking with his planned schedule moving forward.

Speaking prior to this week's Quicken Loans National, for which he serves as tournament host, Woods maintained that he won't alter his personal calendar to play more events before the rapidly impending conclusion to the regular season.

Asked whether he would compete in next week's Reno-Tahoe Open should he fail to qualify for the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational (which would require a win this week), Woods quickly dismissed the idea.

"Unfortunately, I can't get an invite there unless I win," he said. "I might as well earn one this week and go out and get it done. If not, then will I play Reno? No, I won't. I'll go home and get ready for the PGA."

There's a very likely scenario that his 2014-15 PGA Tour campaign will end there, too.

Woods currently owns 95 FedEx Cup points in eight starts. That places him 315 points behind the 125th and final spot to reach the playoffs, which means that even a solo runner-up finish this week wouldn't be enough to at least qualify for The Barclays, which kicks off the FedEx Cup four weeks from now.

It also means that, if Woods doesn't win this week or win the year's final major championship, his season would likely conclude at Whistling Straits, should he choose not to play the next week's Wyndham Championship, which he's never before played.

"I haven't scored very well," he admitted. "I missed cuts. I haven't done much in the last couple of years. That's what [caddie] Joey [LaCava] keeps reminding me of: 'Would you just relax? You haven't played that much.'

"Also, he keeps reminding me, 'You won five times two years ago and so it's not that far removed.' So hopefully, I can start playing the way that I know I can play and start gaining some W's again."
