UConn women's basketball temporarily suspended team activities for at least 14 days Monday after a member of the program tested positive for COVID-19.

The No. 3-ranked Huskies will resume play when it is deemed safe by medical personnel.

As a result, UConn won't take part in the Basketball Hall of Fame Women's Challenge, which is scheduled for this weekend at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut. No. 6 Mississippi State, Quinnipiac and Maine are the other teams scheduled to participate in the event, the status of which wasn't known as of Monday night.

Additionally, UConn won't play No. 5 Louisville in the Jimmy V Women's Classic on Dec. 4 at Mohegan Sun. As of Monday, another team was being sought to play the Cardinals.

The Huskies' Big East opener Dec. 6 at Seton Hall has been postponed.

If medically cleared, the earliest UConn can play, according to its current schedule, is Dec. 15 against Butler at Gampel Pavilion in Storrs, Connecticut.

Monday's news delays the debut for consensus No. 1 recruit Paige Bueckers for the 11-time national champion Huskies.
