— -- CHICAGO -- The UFC announced on Saturday that a plan is in place to postpone its pay-per-view event scheduled for Feb. 1 should Super Bowl XLVIII move to that date.

Extreme weather forecasts in East Rutherford, N.J. have forced NFL officials to consider changing the date or time of the first cold-weather Super Bowl. Currently, the championship game is still scheduled for 6:25 p.m. ET on Feb. 2.

In the event the Super Bowl is bumped up to Saturday, officials said UFC 169, which will take place at Prudential Center in Newark, N.J. would be postponed to Sunday.

"We're keeping an eye on what happens with the Super Bowl," said UFC director of communications Dave Sholler. "If the Super Bowl is moved to Saturday, UFC 169 will move to Sunday. We are closely monitoring the situation."

A bantamweight title fight between Renan Barao and Urijah Faber will headline UFC 169. Defending featherweight champion Jose Aldo will seek his sixth title defense in the co-main event.
