Villanova Fans Celebrate NCAA Win After Buzzer-Beater Finish
This is the Wildcats' second NCAA tournament title, after 1985 win.
— -- It came down to the buzzer as the Villanova Wildcats beat the North Carolina Tar Heels 77-74 Monday night, causing a flurry of celebration throughout the stadium and the country.
The final seconds of the NCAA championship game in Houston played out right from a movie: the Tar Heels had scored a 3-pointer to tie the game before with the Wildcats responding with their own 3-pointer in the final moments to score the game-winning shot.
This is the Wildcats’ second NCAA tournament title, but for many of Villanova's current collegiate fans, it was the first time they had seen their team win a national championship. The last time the Wildcats took home the trophy was back in 1985.
Crowds went wild when Kris Jenkins scored the winning shot. Hundreds, if not thousands of sports fans back at home ran out of Villanova’s Pavilion arena in droves to celebrate a victory that hasn't been witnessed in more than 30 years.
