Sept. 8, 2010— -- Google has unveiled more details about its move into television. Google TV, which marries TV and the Internet, will support apps, as most smart phones do today. Users will also be able to change the channel using voice-recognition technology. Google TV launches in the fall.

Apple launched its first attempt at social networking last week. Ping shows you what music your friends like and what your favorite artists are doing. Apple says improvements are coming but, for now, the Wall Street Journal's Katie Boehret is unimpressed.

"I found a lot of problems out of the gate," Boehret said. "Basically, they have the music part down pat. But the social networking aspect of the social network is a little bit lacking."

One of the biggest problems, she added, is that you can't import your friends from Facebook.
