Nikon Coolpix S7c -- Digital Camera

— -- This is a camera as fashion item. The Coolpix S7c is beautiful, slender, and curvy -- so stylish that there isn't even a lens sticking out the front end. As with many subcompact cameras, the optics are folded inside the body; there's a small round window that opens when you power up.

After you're done admiring the minimalist front, you'll realize the most important features of the S7c are on the back, beginning with the class-leading 3-inch screen.

Think about this for a second. A 3-inch screen is smaller than the prints you used to get from the drugstore -- but not much. This is the perfect camera if you want to take a snapshot of friends and share it with them right away.

They don't even have to be there. The S7c is equipped with a Wi-Fi transmitter. If you're in a hotspot, you can email your pictures straight from the camera. The process is a touch cumbersome at first; you have to turn a dial to spell out g-e-o-r-g-e@w-h-i-t-e-h-o-u-s-e.g-o-v -- but after the first time, the camera remembers it.

If sending and sharing are this much fun, who needs a lens? 7.1 megapixels, 3x zoom. Street price: $275 to $350.
