April Foolery, the Conficker Worm virus, Web 2.0 Expo, and BlackBerry App World on PC World Podcast Episode 23

— -- Today, PC World Editors Robert Strohmeyer, Tim Moynihan and Mark Sullivan post up in the studio for the post-April Fool’s Day edition of the PC World Podcast.

First on their list of discussion topics is the elusive Conficker Worm. After all of this virus’ hype, what damage has it really caused? Most PC’s in America are protected from viruses like this already—listen in for details.

An array of online pranks hit the web April 1, fooling some, and giving a chuckle to many. Among the silliest are PC World’s list of 10 fake news items, PC World’s creation of fake Facebook profiles that depict Steve Jobs and Bill Gates exchanging witty banter on one another’s walls. Also, Steve's DVR-SuperAdvance piece fooled some people into believing that we might actually be able to see 58 seconds into the future.

Robert talks about some of the interesting findings at the Web 2.0 Expo. Mostly everything at the expo revolved around social networking--from new ways to tweet on twitter to video conferencing via mobile devices.

Finally, the editors talk about the new Palm Pre, a touch screen smartphone that might actually sway some iPhone users back to liking the idea of phones with real keyboards. And last but not least, with hundreds of apps, why is the Blackberry App World so underwhelming?
