Tesla is working on a snake-like charger that will slither its way to a Tesla car and charge it, all without drivers having to put forth any effort.

The electric car company's CEO, Elon Musk, shared news of the innovative project today with his 1.36 million Twitter followers.

Instead of drivers having to manually connect a charger, a solid metal snake will automatically come out of the wall and plug into the car.

The technology would be available for existing Model S cars as well as future vehicles made by Tesla, according to Musk.

The futurist is known as much for his business interests in Tesla and SpaceX as he is for his bold ideas, including his conceptualization of the Hyperloop transportation system and the colonization of Mars, among others.
