TechBytes: AT&T to Impose Data Plan Limits

Starting in October, data hogs could experience throttling.

August 1, 2011— -- In today's TechBytes... AT&T will soon be cracking down on customers with unlimited data plans and heavy data usage.

Starting October 1, those customers will experience throttling, which is when the carrier slows down a phone's connection to minimize the amount of data it can consume.

There is no word yet on what the data limit will be.

iPhone Sales Beat Out Competition

The Apple iPhone is now the number one selling smartphone. Apple shipped out more than 20 million iPhones in the second quarter.

The Samsung Galaxy is now second. Both companies have exciting new products expected this fall, the iPhone 5 and the Samsung Galaxy S2.

Google's Hotel Finder

Google has a new tool for anyone still making summer travel plans. The company just launched "hotel finder," which aims to help you find the perfect place to stay.

Users can customize their search by location and price range, and can then scroll through the list of similar hotels, and save them in Google maps.
