— -- Millie the cat has traveled to places that would make even a human jealous.

She and her climbing companion, Craig Armstrong, document their climbs and trips on their Instagram account. And the photos? TDF.

Millie's 2 years old, adopted by Armstrong at six weeks from a shelter in Park City, Utah. Since then she's climbed, she's rappelled canyons and she's pranced in the desert.

And while most cats are known for lazing the days away in patches of sun, Armstrong said he doesn't think Millie's much different than the average cat. "Millie's a house cat, I feel bad having her locked up all the time and want her to get to explore the beautiful places I get to visit so take her on trips with me. Wandering around a desert at a cat's pace, observing things from a cat's perspective, is relaxing and fun. Therapeutic almost. And enlightening. You're taking to spots and get to see things you would typically walk right past. I'm pretty sure any animal would have fun out there, you just have to have the patience and willingness to take them and attention to stay with them and keep them safe."

"I think any cat would have fun outdoors, but they can also perish easily in wild places. So put your agenda away, be prepared to have patience and move slowly, or not move at all for periods of time, and put yourself in the role of being there to keep them safe. You'll likely have a good time yourself."

Millie loves the outdoors, but Armstrong said she's wary of other humans and of animals. "She had good survival instincts," he said. "We've had some of the most fun in the San Rafael Swell and Robber's Roost areas, where you can get real remote real fast, a few hours south of Salt Lake where we live."

Millie's a major adventurer. The most exotic place she's been is Alcatraz Canyon in southern Utah. "This is a very narrow slot canyon, with multiple rappels and was only first descended not too long ago. Literally only a handful of humans have traversed it and it's beauty is unbelievable."

And while the ocean is on Armstrong's wish list for Millie, in the short term they have a climb to conquer. "We will do more slot canyons, more summits, and return to Theater of Shadows at the City of Rocks, Idaho, this year to re-attempt that climb. We were denied last time, it's our current biggest project."
