— -- Attention globe-trotter wannabes: The Global Scavenger Hunt is now accepting applications for its annual three-week around-the-world travel adventure. Apply by Dec. 19 to be one of 50 travelers chosen to depart on April 11 from Los Angeles for unknown points west, arriving in New York on May 3. Single applicants are accepted, but contestants compete in 25 teams of two.

Unlike The Amazing Race or Survivor, no one will be eliminated from the competition. Travelers venture to at least 10 countries on four continents during the 23-day adventure and earn points through a chain of cultural challenges. Think trekking through Sri Lanka in search of Buddha's tooth or entering a camel race in India. They put their ability to fight jetlag and language barriers to the ultimate test.

The $9,900 entry fee includes airfare and accommodations. Winners of the event can defend their title free of cost in 2009. More information at 310-281-7809 or GlobalScavengerHunt.com.
