— -- Among the new thrills to be unveiled at the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions annual expo, opening Tuesday in Orlando, are rides that simulate surfing without water and enable downhill tubing without snow.

And since theme parks are a lot less fun without kids, some exhibitors will present new devices that parents can use to keep track of little ones. Among exhibitors: Former talk-show host Joan Lunden (mother of two young sets of twins) will be hawking her new KinderKord, a retractable wrist cord that connects child and adult but allows movement of up to 3 feet apart. Another new product by Spot Me I.D. lets parents temporarily tattoo their kids with contact info.
