— -- They spoke with 150 journalists daily, dined on cold fried rice and broiled halibut and, at the end of their eight-day protest, released the song Give Peace a Chance all from the comfort of bed.

It has been 40 years since John Lennon and Yoko Ono staged a bed-in for peace in Montreal's Fairmont Queen Elizabeth Hotel May 26-June 2, 1969.

The city and the hotel are commemorating the anniversary. Thursday, Montreal Museum of Fine Arts (mmfa.qc.ca) premiered Imagine: The Peace Ballad of John &Yoko. The free exhibit, through June 21, was curated in collaboration with Ono.

The Fairmont is offering an Imagine Package starting at $199, double, or $599 for the suite where the couple stayed. 800-441-1414; fairmont.com/queenelizabeth.
