May 15, 2014 — -- More than 50,000 gallons of oil flooded into the streets of Los Angeles, with the oil knee-deep in some areas after a pipe ruptured early this morning, officials said.
Crude oil spilled along San Fernando Road in the city’s Atwater Village neighborhood, affecting nearby businesses, including a gentleman's club, the Los Angeles Fire Department reported.
The line broke before 1 a.m. local time. Emergency crews used sand to try to contain the oil.
No injuries were reported during the early hours of the spill.
