— -- If you're living under a rock -- or perhaps under a sheet of snow -- maybe you haven't heard of the crazy things going on as the Northeast gets slammed by a snowstorm, an early winter dubbed #Snowvember on social media.
Have you ever seen a football break? That happened nine times because of the freezing cold during a Canadian football practice last week, according to a player who posted a snapshot of the flattened footballs on Twitter:
The Edmonton Eskimos aren't the only daredevils facing the cold.
There's also a group of people taking up "blizzard surfing," a chilly trend in which surfers embrace the snowstorm and hit the beach anyway. Two surfers named Kevin and Kristen did just that on Lake Erie in New York on Tuesday, despite the mountains of snow in the Buffalo area, and posted a video of the feat:
The freeze has even stretched the South. The Churchill Downs Racetrack in Louisville, Kentucky, froze over, forcing officials to cancel 10 races on Wednesday, ABC affiliate WHAS reported.
