— -- Two people are dead and four others were injured in a shooting at Shawnee Park in Louisville, Kentucky, today, according to police.

The shooting occurred at about 1:30 p.m. while the park was crowded with people attending the annual Juice Bowl football game, Louisville Metro Police Department spokesman Dwight Mitchell said.

When officers arrived on the scene, they found two deceased black males, police said in a statement. Four other individuals were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment with non-life-threatening injuries, according to police.

"This is very tragic what's happened here," Mitchell said, according to local ABC affiliate WHAS. "I'm saddened. We've had over 100 homicides in our city, something that hasn't happened in a long time. And we consider ourselves one of the safest cities in America but when you have a tragedy like this it certainly puts a damper on that."

The shooting is under investigation.
