-- Joint Base Andrews' main gate was briefly placed on lockdown late this afternoon after a security incident was reported at the Visitor Control Center.
In a Twitter post, the base said the incident happened at around 5:15 p.m. and they cautioned all personnel and residents should avoid the area until further notice.
According to a senior government official, a woman walked into visitor center claiming to have an explosive device strapped to her chest.
Within an hour, an Air Force official told ABC News the individual was in custody and did not have a bomb. The official did not elaborate on what occurred.
Currently, flights are not being re-directed and Air Force Security is looking into the incident, according to Captain Connie Dillon, spokesperson for JBA.
