June 3, 2014— -- A search will resume today for Eric Fernandes, a hiker missing since Saturday in Arizona.

Police were also trying to find a man caught on a store’s security camera -- potentially the last person to see Fernandes.

Fernandes, 23, hasn’t been seen since he went hiking on Camelback Mountain in Phoenix. His car was found parked at a trailhead, and calls to his phone have gone unanswered.

Police believe Fernandes went to a sporting goods store before the hike. Store surveillance cameras captured an unknown man who investigators now believe was the last person to see Fernandes.

Sweltering heat caused rescue crews to suspend search efforts Monday. While Fernandes was not a very experienced hiker, relatives remained hopeful that the helicopters above and rescuers below would find him.

“I want to take my son back to Seattle with me ... alive,” said his father, Max Fernandes.
