— -- A Newark-bound United plane was diverted Thursday morning due to a cracked windshield, the airline told ABC News.

The Boeing 757, en route from Glasgow, England, to New Jersey, landed safely at Gander International Airport in Newfoundland, Canada, the airline said.

United says it’s sending a new aircraft to accommodate the flight’s 164 customers.
