title: Iran Building Fake Aircraft Carrier

text: Well that looks familiar. Iran is building a (nonworking) mock aircraft carrier based on the U.S. Navy’s Nimitiz-class carriers, according to the New York Times.

Analysts studying satellite photos first noticed the ship being built in a shipyard near the Persian Gulf and found that even fake aircraft was placed on the ship’s deck. A spokesman for the Navy’s Fifth Fleet in Bahrain told the New York Times they believe the non-functioning ship was built for propaganda.

The Times reported that U.S. officials said they are keeping an eye on the copycat ship and have given it the nickname of “target barge.”
