"American Sniper" is shattering box office records.

The Iraq war film earned a record-breaking $30.5 million on its opening day Friday, according to Variety, which is reportedly the biggest single-day take ever in January for a movie. Variety reckons the film may take in $80 million this weekend alone.

Actor and fitness instructor Greg Plitt was struck and killed by a train just north of Los Angeles Saturday, officials said.

Plitt was in Burbank with friends when he was hit by a Metrolink train a few minutes after 4 p.m., Burbank Police Department Watch Commander Scott Meadows told ABC News today.

Plitt, 37, was found dead at the scene.

Australian golfer Robert Allenby was recovering today after he says he was abducted, drugged, bruised, beaten and robbed in Hawaii.

The golfer's caddy, Mick Middlemo, said the attack Friday night followed a round of drinks with friends at a wine bar after Allenby failed to make the cut in the Sony Open in Honolulu.

Los Angeles police are searching for a suspect in the shooting of the CEO of a Los Angeles real estate company while he was sitting in his Rolls Royce.

Kameron Segal was in his car in Hollywood, California, when he was shot around 8:40 p.m. Friday, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. The suspect managed to escape from the area on a bike, police said.

5. Seahawks Rally to Return to Super Bowl

Just when it seemed like the turnover-prone Seattle Seahawks wouldn't be returning to the Super Bowl, they started playing like champions, mounting one of the great comebacks in NFL playoff history.

Seattle rallied from a 19-7 deficit with just over two minutes to play to win 28-22 in overtime over the Green Bay Packers.

The victory put sends the Seahawks to the Super Bowl, where they will face the AFC champion New England Patriots, who trampled the Indianapolis Colts, 45-7.
