— -- If you were out enjoying the last official weekend of summer, here are five stories from the weekend you may have missed.

1. Police Say Rifle Carried by Ambush Suspect Found

The search for a gunman who opened fire in a deadly ambush at a Pennsylvania state police barracks stretches into its 10th day. Authorities said Sunday they have recovered one of the weapons he was carrying and believe they are hot on his trail.

Investigators said they believe the alleged gunman they describe as a self-taught survivalist had been planning a confrontation with law enforcement for months, if not years.

Pennsylvania State Police Lt. Col. George Bivens revealed a few more details about the manhunt for Eric Frein, saying trackers have discovered items he hid or abandoned in the woods -- including a gun they believe he had been carrying while on the run, according to the Associated Press.

"We are pushing him hard, he is no longer safe and I am confident he will be apprehended," Bivens said.

The search is focusing on a several square-mile area on the border of Pike and Monroe counties around the village where Frein grew up, Bivens said.

An arrest warrant has been issued for a person of interest in the disappearance of University of Virginia student Hannah Graham, but he is not being sought for anything to do with the case.

Charlottesville, Va., police said Sunday they are looking for Jesse L. Matthew, 32, on two counts of reckless driving, because he sped away from the police station Saturday after showing up there and asking for a lawyer.

Matthew is still a "person with whom we would like to talk to about the whereabouts of Hannah Graham," Charlottesville Police Chief Timothy Longo said.

The chief has reiterated that police are not calling Matthew a suspect, just someone who could have useful information about what happened to Graham.

Tens of thousands of people marched through central Moscow on Sunday to demonstrate against the fighting in Ukraine and Russia's alleged complicity in the conflict.

An Associated Press reporter estimated the crowd at about 20,000, although the city police department put the number at about 5,000.

The demonstrators chanted slogans including "No to war" and "The junta is in the Kremlin, not Kiev," referring to Moscow's contention that the ousting of Ukraine's former Russia-friendly president was a coup.

The fighting between Ukrainian forces and pro-Russia separatists in eastern Ukraine that erupted after the ouster has killed more than 3,000 people. Ukraine and Western countries claim Russia is supplying troops and equipment to the rebels, which Moscow denies.

Bergen died at her home in Southbury, Connecticut, from natural causes, said publicist Judy Katz, surrounded by family and close friends.
