The White House said there is "very little doubt" the Assad regime is responsible for the alleged chemical attack in Syria that is said to have taken place earlier last week.

New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman is suing Donald Trump for $40 million claiming Trump's for-profit investment school, Trump University, engaged in fraud and deceptive conduct.

3. Yosemite Wildfire Threatens Thousands
The Rim Fire blazing near Yosemite National Park has grown to become one of the biggest in California history, spreading across 225 square miles. Fire officials estimate containment at 7 percent.

4. First Woman Member of the NYSE Dies
Muriel "Mickie" Siebert, the first woman to become a member of the New York Stock Exchange, died of complications related to cancer at age 80.

5. Timberlake Rules MTV VMAs
Justin Timberlake took top honors at the MTV Video Music Awards, winning Video of the Year for "Mirrors" in addition to the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award.
