1. Mortar Shells Fired From Gaza During Humanitarian Cease-Fire, Israeli Military Says

Mortar Shells were fired at Israel during a five-hour cease-fire today, Israeli military officials said, the latest salvo in the 10-day conflict between Hamas and Israel that has left 227 dead.

The sides were slated to participate in the cease-fire from 10 a.m. local time ( 3 a.m. EST) until 3 p.m. (8 a.m. EST). But after about two hours of temporary calm, sirens sounded in southern Israel, followed by at least three mortar shells from Gaza, Israeli authorities said.

The cease-fire was planned for humanitarian purposes.

4. Passengers Stranded All Night on Casino Boat Finally Get Evacuated

Coast Guard crews evacuated people forced to spend all night aboard an evening casino cruise that got stuck on rocks near the coast of Georgia during its maiden voyage, the Coast Guard said.

Tradewinds Casino Cruise's Escapade ship, with 94 passengers and 31 crew members, got stranded around midnight in South Carolina's Calibogue Sound. The Coast Guard members removed people from the ship after towlines broke during initial attempts to free the ship and get it back into the water.

5. 'Wonder Years' Star Danica McKellar Is Engaged

"Wonder Years" star Danica McKellar is engaged.

The actress, 39, posted a picture holding up her beautiful ring, captioned, "So...can you guess what my big news is??"
