1. Weather Hampers AirAsia Flight QZ 8501 Recovery Efforts

Recovery efforts resumed Wednesday for AirAsia Flight QZ 8501 in the Java Sea, with seven total bodies retrieved but weather conditions slowing efforts at the site, Indonesian officials said.

At this point, the bodies of four males and three females have been recovered, with all of the bodies intact.

Bambang Soelistyo, head of Indonesia’s National Search and Rescue Agency, said dynamic updates should emerge as weather improves. Authorities are hopeful that sonar technology will reveal the wreckage location.

“We are expecting extra vessels – hopefully they will enter the area today,” Soelistyo said, speaking at a press conference. “They have tools to search objects under water. They will be the leading forces to be able to find a majority of the parts of the plane.”

2. Transgender Teen's Reported Suicide Note Makes Dramatic Appeal

A note reportedly left by an Ohio teen asking that her death expose the problems transgender people suffer has been cited by an Ohio official and has prompted police to investigate the death as a suicide and to determine if there was a link to the note.

Cincinnati City Councilman Chris Seelbach posted a long note on his Facebook page, a note that was reportedly left behind by Leelah Alcorn, who was born Joshua Alcorn. It reportedly had been scheduled to post on Tumblr after the teen died.

Alcorn, 17, according to police, died Sunday after being hit by a tractor trailer in a suburb of Cincinnati, Ohio. Officers from the Ohio Highway Patrol told ABC News they are investigating the death as a suicide and looking into the note.

3. California Snowstorm Leaves Drivers Trapped in Their Vehicles

More than 100 drivers were trapped in their vehicles overnight due to a snowstorm in southern California.

Dozens of stranded drivers were trapped on State Route 38 in the San Bernardino Mountains, said San Bernardino County Fire Department spokesman Ryan Beckers. Rescue crews worked to remove people from their vehicles and take them to a nearby church, Beckers said.

Others were trapped on Mount Baldy – some near the ski lifts, others near Baldy Village, with those people provided shelter for the time being, Beckers said.

4. Mom Shot, Killed By 2-Year-Old Son at Walmart

A young mother was shot and killed by her 2-year-old son in an Idaho Walmart, police said.

Lt. Stu Miller of the Kootenai County Sheriff's Office said that the boy was sitting in the shopping cart when pulled the handgun from his mom's purse and pulled the trigger. Police identified the victim as Veronica J. Rutledge, 29, of Blackfoot, Idaho.

5. This Is the Worst Way to Lose a Basketball Game, Ever

The University of Florida Gators and Florida State Seminoles men's basketball teams were tied Tuesday, with three seconds remaining in regulation.

Just enough time for a final shot.

Florida State inbounded the ball to guard Devon Bookert. Bookert gathered himself and fired, but his fadeaway jumper was short.

Florida Gators forward Jacob Kurtz, a walk-on player, was there.

Kurtz jumped for the ball. The ball glanced of his hands and into the basket – two points for Florida State, for a 65-63 FSU win.
