Fantasy Football Weather Forecast: Week 14

— -- Fantasy Football playoffs are underway and we have a major storm affecting the Central U.S. this weekend. Heavy rain and wind could affect some players in your fantasy lineup from Kansas City to Chicago to Green Bay.

The San Diego Chargers play the Kansas City Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium on Sunday at 1 p.m. Eastern Time. The chance of rain throughout the day is not good news for an already struggling Chargers offense. Remember, they are from San Diego, it doesn’t rain too much in southern California, so this definitely won’t help them. Melvin Gordon and Danny Woodhead have been very disappointing the past few weeks, and against an excellent Chiefs defense it will be even harder.

Let’s talk about the Chiefs running backs that are doing well this year in Jamaal Charles’ absence -- Charcandrick West and Spencer Ware. Both played against the Chargers in week 11, racking up 96 yards and two touchdowns together. Ware has been on a roll, getting double-digit fantasy points since then, and many of those games he played in the rain.

Showers, thunderstorms and extremely gusty winds are expected on Sunday at Soldier Field. Winds could reach over 35 mph with rain -- just awful weather to play football in. After last week, it became obvious that Matt Forte got the starting job, and he had a great game, but we have to be careful as Langford and Carey are still in the mix. I think he could have another good game this week, especially if they lean more on running the ball in this terrible weather.

The main targets for the Redskins are DeSean Jackson and Jordan Reed, and it might be a rough week for both of them. DeSean Jackson has always been a boom-or-bust player. If he doesn’t score, he won’t get you many points, and the less that ball gets in the air, the less chance of scoring he has. Same with Jordan Reed -- besides the fact the Bears have only allowed tight ends to score twice all season long.

As we move further north to Green Bay, rain and wind continues to be an issue through the afternoon and evening.

The Cowboys play the Packers at Lambeau Field on Sunday at 4:25 p.m. ET. We usually don’t talk too much about defense and special teams, but we have to mention the Packers defense. They are going into a great match-up against a Cowboys defense, who have given up turnovers right and left all season long. The Packers defense has also been on a really hot streak the past few weeks.

Let’s not forget when there is rain and wind in the forecast, as there is on Sunday, the better chance there is for more opportunities to give up the ball.
