'World News Tonight with David Muir' Delivers Most-Watched July Sweep in 9 Years

“ABC World News with David Muir” averaged 7.540 million Total Viewers, 1.654 million Adults 25-54 and 1.212 million Adults 18-49 during the 2016 July sweep, based on Most Current Data from Nielsen Media Research.
“World News Tonight” was up over the year-ago July sweep (+14,000 - 7.540 million vs. 7.526 million for July 2015) for the 3rd consecutive year to draw its most-watched July in 9 years – since July 2007. In fact, “World News Tonight” stood as the only evening newscast to post gains from July 2015 as both CBS’ “Evening News” (-47,000) and NBC’s “Nightly News” (-289,000) turned in losses.
For the 3rd year in a row, “World News Tonight” decreased its July sweep Total Viewer margin with NBC’s “Nightly News” by double digits (-75% - 102,000 vs. 405,000), delivering its closest performance during the month in 9 years – since July 2007.
“World News Tonight” led CBS’ “Evening News” by 1.180 million Total Viewers, by 159,000 Adults 25-54 and by 194,000 Adults 18-49 during the July 2016 sweep, outperforming the CBS program by its largest overall viewer advantage during the month in 4 years – since July 2012.
