World News Tonight” scored increases over the prior week (7.147 million, 1.579 million and 1.135 million, respectively, w/o 7/25/16) in all key target demos: Total Viewers (+8%), Adults 25-54 (+6%) and Adults 18-49 (+8%), drawing its largest overall audience in 4 weeks – since w/o 7/4/16.
“World News Tonight” built on the year-ago week in Total Viewers (+3% - 7.725 million vs. 7.493 million for w/o 8/3/15), delivering year-to-year increases in 6 of the past 7 weeks.
“World News Tonight” ranked No. 1 in Total Viewers, beating “NBC Nightly News” head-to-head on Monday by 275,000 (8.423 million vs. 8.148 million on 8/1/16). In fact, “World News Tonight’s” Monday airing stood as the most-watched telecast of the week, outdelivering every telecast of the week of “CBS Evening News” and “NBC Nightly News.”
“World News Tonight” narrowed its margins by double digits with “NBC Nightly News” compared to the year-ago week in Total Viewers (-28% - 257,000 vs. 355,000) and Adults 18-49 (-18% - 180,000 vs. 220,000).
Season to date, “World News Tonight” is improving versus the same point last season in Total Viewers (+35,000 - 8.400 million vs. 8.365 million). Growing for the 4th straight year, “World News Tonight” is delivering its largest overall viewer audience in 9 years – since the 2006-07 season.
