ABC News’ “World News Tonight with David Muir” averaged 7.827 million Total Viewers, 1.712 million Adults 25-54 and 1.233 million Adults 18-49 for the week of June 13, 2016, based on Live + Same Day Data from Nielsen Media Research.
World News Tonight” outperformed “NBC Nightly News” in all 3 of its head-to-head telecasts during the week in Total Viewers: Tuesday (+402,000), Wednesday (+130,000) and Friday (+62,000). “World News Tonight” was based on a three day week because of NBA Finals pre-emptions on Monday and Thursday*. “World News Tonight” also beat the NBC program on Friday in Adults 25-54 (+29,000) and Adults 18-49 (+37,000).
Season to date, “World News Tonight” is improving versus the same point last season in Total Viewers (+32,000 - 8.550 million vs. 8.518 million). Growing for the 4th straight year, “World News Tonight” is delivering its largest overall viewer audience in 9 years – since the 2006-07 season.
“World News Tonight” is also narrowing its Total Viewer season margin with “NBC Nightly News” by double digits (-40% - 201,000 vs. 335,000) for the 2nd straight season, posting its closest overall viewer performance with the NBC program in 9 years – since the 2006-07 season.
For the week, “World News Tonight” beat the “CBS Evening News” by 1.284 million Total Viewers, by 147,000 Adults 25-54 and by 157,000 Adults 18-49.
