Juanes Serenades His Wife and Gives Us a Tour of His Home
Juanes and wife give us a tour of their home, show us his Grammys and guitars.
April 2, 2013 -- Did you ever wonder what the inside of Juanes' Miami house looked like? Maybe you've wondered what kind of art he has on his walls, what sorts of instruments he has in his home studio, or where he keeps his 19 Latin Grammys and 2 American Grammys? I bet you wonder if he ever serenades his beautiful actress wife, Karen Martínez.
Well, wonder no more my good people. Watch the video above for a peek into Juanes' very private life including his cute French bulldog Parce, a very special gift he got from his favorite band of all time, Metallica, and why he's now decided to publish a memoir at the tender age of 40. For extra Juanes, read below for Juanes' answers to some of Univision News anchor Maria Elena Salinas' questions:
About his fans: "For me they are the most important thing. They are the ones who give life to my songs. They are the ones that go to my shows. They are part of my family. I feel so thankful with them all the time."
About growing up in Medellín amidst the '80s violence: "It was a mix of beautiful and difficult things that probably at that time I didn't understand because I was a kid. I grew up in a beautiful family because my father, my mother, my brothers and sisters were always singing and playing guitar. So that was my childhood in Colombia. Even if we were living in this complicated situation, through music we were all together all the time. I learned to play guitar and sing when I was 7 years old probably."
"Then when I turned 14 or 15 years old I started to understand more what was happening... and then I fell in love with rock music. Metal music. That was a turning point for me because through rock music I found a way to escape from reality. We used to play very loud and fast and all the lyrics we wrote were about this difficult time we were living."
About his new memoir "Chasing The Sun" (available now in Spanish and English): "It has pictures and memories of my life. I wrote this book for my fans. I'm not a writer, I am a musician, but I wanted to do this because it was a really good way to go back to who I was when I was a kid and to remember all those moments that changed my life and made who I am now."
About what's coming up next: "I've been working on my new album now with Steve Lillywhite -- a very cool producer from the UK -- and also with Meme from Cafe Tacvba who is helping us to put it all together. The album will probably be released at the end of this year. It will definitely be recorded this year. I'm going to record in English as well. I'm going to try to record 3 to 4 songs in English."
Stay tuned at the end of the video for a special cameo from Parce the dog during his serious interview Maria Elena. Also, we hear Juanes will be making a special appearance on "Dancing with the Stars" later this month, so stay tuned for that.
And if our Juanes scoop does not suffice, catch him at a bookstore near you as he hops around the country this week signing copies of his new book.
