Iowa Man Wins $100K Lottery By Matching Zero Winning Numbers
Robert Howe won the Iowa and Minnesota lotteries' "All or Nothing" game.
-- A Des Moines, Iowa, man won a $100,000 lottery jackpot without matching a single number in the lottery’s winning drawing.
Robert Howe, 75, on Monday became one of the few people to ever win the “All or Nothing” lottery by matching zero numbers in the drawing.
The $1 game allows players to choose 12 numbers out of a pool of 24 numbers. Players win the $100,000 jackpot if they either match all 12 of the winning drawn numbers or none of the numbers, as Howe did.
Howe won the jackpot Monday in the game’s mid-day drawing, around 12:45 p.m., and by 3 p.m., that day he was at the Iowa Lottery’s headquarters in Clive, Iowa, to claim his prize, a lotto spokesman told ABC News.
Howe, who was not available for comment, will take home $70,000 after taxes, the spokesman said.
The “All or Nothing” game debuted in January 2014 and has since awarded the $100,000 grand prize only 11 times in all.
Drawings for the game occur two times per day, seven days a week, according to the lottery.
