Behind an arcade style game called Timberman, Kardashian West's app permits in-app purchases that range from $3.99 to $59.99.
"Rise from the ranks of clothing store fashion consultant to basking in the spotlight at the hottest events with Kim Kardashian West herself," the app's description states. "Players experience the drama and excitement of earning Hollywood notoriety by completing projects and tasks that lead to new career opportunities. As of today, with the volume of in-app purchases, "Kim Kardashian: Hollywood" is the fifth highest grossing app in the App Store. The four highest grossing apps are "Clash of Clans," "Candy Crush Saga," "Pandora Radio" and "Game of War - Fire Age." Though the terms of the deal with Kardashian West are not clear, annual revenue from the app may reach $200 million, according to Douglas Creutz, an analyst with Cowen & Co.
A spokesman for the game's creator, Glu Mobile Inc., declined to comment due to the firm's quiet period ahead of its second quarter earnings call.
Based in San Francisco, Glu told Bloomberg that it may be the company's most popular game of the year.
“We’re not surprised. Kim is a one-of-a-kind talent with an incredibly precise fit to the game engine that we tailored but already had in the company," CEO Niccolo de Masi told Bloomberg News.
Kardashian West said in a statement upon the launch: "I'm so excited to launch this game and offer my fans a fun way to experience a piece of my life. So much of this game - from the outfits to hairstyles to accessories - are all inspired by looks that I love and hand selected. We were able to record and include so much of my natural commentary throughout the gameplay."
"I really enjoyed the creative process and seeing this game brought to life is amazing. I'm so proud of this project and I hope my fans enjoy the game as much as I do," she said.
