Pizza Hut Makes Amazing Kentucky Derby Hats Out of Pizza Boxes
The chain asked a "Project Runway" designer to make custom Derby hats.
May 2, 2014 -- In honor of this year's Kentucky Derby, Pizza Hut unveiled “Derby hats” made from materials found at the restaurant, including pizza and wing boxes.
Pizza Hut is giving away the hats -- inspired by the elaborate head gear seen at the race -- created by designer Angela Bacskocky from the reality television show Project Runway, season 12.
The company, whose parent company Yum! Brands is based in Louisville, Kentucky, home of the big race, is giving away the hats through social media leading up to the race on Saturday and on the infield at the Derby.
