Search Is on for Richest Bachelor's Wedding Spot

Google co-founder Larry Page is expected to tie the knot in a few weeks.

Nov. 14, 2007 — -- It looks like one of the country's richest bachelors is about to be taken off the market.

Google co-founder Larry Page -- a 34-year-old man worth nearly $20 billion -- is reported to have set a date next month to wed his girlfriend Lucy Southworth.

Like the recent wedding of Google's other co-founder, Sergey Brin, to Anne Wojcicki, much is being kept secret.

The San Francisco Chronicle broke the story Tuesday, saying that Page and Southworth would marry on the weekend of Dec. 8 at an undisclosed location.

In May, Brin and Wojcicki were married in an extremely secretive wedding in the Caribbean. The San Jose Mercury News called the wedding "so hush-hush that word didn't leak out for more than a week."

Guests were brought to the Caribbean on a private Boeing 767 owned by Brin and Page, but they were not told their destination, according to the Mercury News.

The couple got married on a sandbar off a secluded island. Most guests took a boat to the sandbar, but the couple, both 33 years old, swam to the ceremony. She wore a white bathing suit. His was black.

Rumors are already swirling about where Page and Southworth will tie the knot.

A blog item by Fortune magazine that was taken down last month suggested that the wedding would be overseas because guests were asked to bring a passport.

Could it be another Caribbean wedding? Or maybe a mountain getaway? With access to a large private jet and a virtually unlimited checkbook, the event could take place virtually anywhere.

Don't expect this to be a small, intimate wedding.

Many current and former Google employees are expected, The Chronicle reported, along with Sir Richard Branson and San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom. Former Vice President Al Gore was also invited but will be in Norway to receive his Nobel Peace Prize.

Branson does own a private island, called Necker Island in the British Virgin Islands, but it's anybody's guess whether that's the planned nuptial location.

So who is the lucky bride who is about to marry a billionaire many times over? (Page and Brin were co-ranked at No. 5 in this year Forbes' 400 list of U.S. billionaires. Each is estimated to have a net worth of $18.5 billion.)

Very little has been published about Southworth.

She graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 2001 and holds a Master of Science from Oxford University. Since 2003, she has been a doctoral student in biomedical informatics at Stanford University.

Google has deep connections to Stanford.

Brin and Page started the company while computer science students at Stanford. Brin's father-in-law is chairman of Stanford's physics department.
