’19 Kids and Counting’ Newlyweds Jessa Duggar and Ben Seewald on Decision to Adopt
Jessa Duggar and husband Ben Seewald say they hope to adopt “a lot of kids.”
-- While Jessa Duggar and Ben Seewald’s wedding preparations play out in the new season of “19 Kids and Counting” but, the newlyweds are already planning to grow their family.
The couple, who tied the knot last November in Bentonville, Arkansas, while cameras rolled for the TLC show, opened up to People magazine about their plans to adopt a baby.
“Even before we were married we wanted to adopt,” Jessa, 22, told the magazine. “We hope to adopt a lot of kids.”
“If God blesses us with biological kids of our own, it's not going to quench our desire to adopt,” she said.
The couple made headlines when they married Nov. 1 for their decision to have their first kiss in private, instead of kissing at the alter.
The newlyweds told People they went on a 10-day honeymoon in Europe and are now settling into married life.
“Jessa and Ben are still living in a newlywed bliss,” People reporter Patrick Gomez told ABC News. “He says that he cooks dinner for her and writes her love letters.”
“He says he always tries to look at situations as though he were in her shoes and puts her up on a pedestal,” Gomez said of 19-year-old Ben.
Though Ben, one of seven kids, and Jessa, one of 19 kids, say they are eager to start a family, their plans to adopt will have to wait a bit.
“Before they were even married they began looking into adoption and were surprised they would have to be married two years before they could adopt,” Gomez said.
Jess’s older sister, Jill Dillard, also a star of “19 Kids and Counting, is expecting her first child in March.
The March 2nd issue of People magazine, with Jessa and Ben on the cover, is on newsstands nationwide Friday.
