Doubles Anyone? Roger Federer Debuts Twin Girls
The tennis star's wife gave birth to twin girls early Friday in Switzerland.
July 24, 2009 -- Tennis star Roger Federer has another title to add to his record 15 Grand Slam titles: the proud father of twin girls.
"I have some exciting news to share with everyone," the 27-year-old Swiss announced early Friday on his Web site. "Late last night, in Switzerland, Mirka and I became proud parents of twin girls. We named them Myla Rose and Charlene Riva and they are both healthy, and, along with their mother, they are doing great. This is the best day of our lives."
Could the new Federer sisters be the new "Venus and Serena?"
The Williams sisters were coached at an early age by their father, Richard, and have met eight times in Grand Slam finals, with the younger-by-15-months Serena leading 6-2. Both have been ranked No. 1 in the world and have a close personal relationship, but manage to put that aside for the sake of competition.
Although we could see an all-Federer affair at Wimbledon in a few decades, for now, Roger can change diapers in his Nike tracksuit emblazoned with a "15" reminding everyone he is still No. 1.
